23 Jul STARLIGHT WALK 2026: ECO-MEDALS DESIGNED TO MATCH THE NIGHT
There’s something fitting about designing a medal for an event that happens after dark — the finisher’s reward has to carry the atmosphere of the night itself, not just mark that it happened. That was the brief for Starlight Walk 2026, Prospect Hospice’s evening fundraising walk, and it’s become one of our favourite medal designs to date.
On Saturday 27 June, 600 walkers came together under the stars for Starlight Walk 2026, raising more than £100,000 for Prospect Hospice — a brilliant turnout for an event that’s clearly becoming a fixture on the calendar.
A THEME THAT SET THE DIRECTION
Starlight Walk is exactly what it sounds like — supporters taking to the streets after dark, torches and glow-sticks in hand, walking together for Prospect Hospice. That night-sky, under-the-stars feeling needed to carry through into the medal, not just sit on the surface of it.
We designed the medal around a shooting star and a sweep of ribbon-like colour arcing across a deep night-sky backdrop, with “2026” picked out along the trail — a small design touch that turns the medal into a keepsake of that specific night, not just a generic finisher award.
ECO-FRIENDLY WOODEN MEDALS, UV PRINTED
The medal itself is one of our FSC-certified eco wooden medals, laser-cut and UV printed — a natural fit for a hospice event where sustainability and thoughtfulness matter as much as presentation.
What made this one work so well is the way the UV print sits on the wood rather than replacing it. The layered birchply edge stays visible around the design, so even under the rich night-sky colour palette, the medal still reads as a genuinely eco-friendly product — not just a wood-effect finish. It’s a detail supporters notice when they pick the medal up, and one Prospect Hospice’s committee were keen to get right from the start.

RIBBONS THAT MATCHED THE NIGHT SKY
The full sublimation printed ribbon was just as important to getting the theme right. We carried the same night-sky palette through — deep navy fading into a warm magenta, scattered with stars — so the ribbon and medal read as one complete piece rather than two separate elements bolted together.
The contrast came out beautifully in production: the warmth of the magenta against the cool navy gave the whole thing a genuine glow, especially photographed the way finisher medals so often are — held up, torch-lit, at the end of a long walk.
WHY IT WORKED
Design details aside, the real win here is what this medal represents: a night where 600 of Prospect Hospice’s supporters walked together and raised over £100,000 for a cause that means a great deal to their community — and came away with something that captures that feeling rather than just proving they turned up.

WHAT PROSPECT HOSPICE SAID
“This year saw Prospect Hospice host the 17th Starlight Walk, welcoming over 600 participants from our community. Working with trusted providers is key to the success of our events, especially when they can support us with our efforts to be eco-friendly.”

How it works
Working with us is simple and personal: tell us about your event — your cause, numbers, budget and timeline. Our design team creates your medal, and we send visuals for you to approve before anything goes into production. We produce and quality-check to our standard, then deliver in good time for your event. From first sketch to finish line, you’ll have a real person guiding every step.
MORE THAN JUST A MEDAL
Medals are often just the starting point. We also supply charity event t-shirts, printed ribbons, pin badges, and other branded merchandise — everything you need to give your fundraising walk a consistent, memorable feel from registration to the finish line, with a few extra opportunities to raise additional funds along the way.
