Run the Runway 2026 finisher medal on airport runway — bespoke 3D aircraft design manufactured by Swift Event Supplies

Cleared for Landing — The Run the Runway 2026 Finisher Medal

How Swift Event Supplies manufactured the official bespoke Run the Runway finisher medals for 2026 — one of the UK’s most unique and talked-about running events, organised by Libra Races and taking place on 21 March 2026 at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

A Running Event Like No Other

Most running events finish with a banner and a crowd. Run the Runway finishes in front of a Vulcan Bomber.

Taking place on the former runway of Doncaster Sheffield Airport on 21 March 2026, Run the Runway is exactly what it sounds like: a race along a real airport runway, past hangars, taxiways, and aviation history, finishing in the shadow of one of Britain’s most iconic aircraft. It is a setting that no other running event in the UK can offer. Organised by Libra Races

Organised by Libra Races, the team behind some of the most creative and popular events in the UK running calendar, Run the Runway 2026 sold out with over 2,900 runners registered on Facebook alone. The event features two distances: a 3.5K open to runners aged 7 and over, and a 5.8K for runners aged 12 and over, with wave starts ensuring every participant gets the full runway experience.

It has even caught the attention of national media, featured in The Sun ahead of the 2026 event. When a running race makes the national press, you know it has captured something special.

The Brief — A Medal Worthy of the Runway

When Libra Races approached Swift Event Supplies to manufacture the Run the Runway 2026 finisher medals, the brief was clear: the medal needed to capture the drama, the setting and the spirit of the event.

An airport runway at dusk. The roar of history. A Vulcan Bomber on the horizon. The medal needed to feel like that.

The starting point was the event itself, its identity, its setting, and what makes it unlike anything else in the UK running calendar. The design needed to be bold enough to stand on its own, instantly recognisable as Run the Runway, and worthy of being kept long after race day.

The Design process

Creativity has no bounds at Swift Event Supplies — and no two projects begin the same way.

Every medal starts with idea generation. Our talented designers explore the brief, the event, and the story behind it, before a single line is drawn. From there, the process takes shape organically, often moving through initial sketches and 2D artwork before evolving into 3D modelling, prototypes, and market-leading visuals.

For Run the Runway, that process led us to a bold aircraft silhouette sitting at the heart of the design — flanked by the event name in strong, impactful typography. The circular medal face gives the aircraft room to land, while the overall shape echoes the squared-off, industrial feel of an airport apron.

Every project is led by Chris Dolan, our Creative Director, who oversees product development from the initial idea through to the finished piece. It’s that hands-on creative leadership that ensures every medal we produce is considered, crafted and worthy of the moment it represents.

The Finished Run the Runway 2026 Medal

From CAD to cast. The Run the Runway 2026 finisher medal is produced in precision die-cast metal with a full antique pewter finish, giving the medal its distinctive dark, aged quality that catches the light and gives real tactile weight.

The antique pewter finish was chosen deliberately. It is dark, serious, and substantial, the opposite of a bright, shiny token. It feels like something that was made to last. Something worth keeping.

The bold purple sublimation printed ribbon completes the medal, featuring Finisher 2026 and the Libra Races branding in the event’s signature colour. The contrast between the dark pewter medal and the vivid purple ribbon is striking at the finish line and in every photograph taken on race day.

What every single finisher shares is the moment they cross the line in front of the Vulcan Bomber. It is a finish line that stops you in your tracks, not just because of the physical effort, but because of where you are standing.

The medal in their hand needs to match that moment. The Run the Runway 2026 medal, with its 3D aircraft, antique pewter weight, and purple ribbon, is something runners will hold onto.
